Mark J. McGrath has over 20 years of Fundraising Experience working with a variety of organizations.  He is experienced in all aspects of fundraising including conducting capital campaigns, major gifts fundraising, volunteer leadership identification and recruitment, strategic planning, prospect identification and cultivation and volunteer training workshops.  He has coordinated successful major gifts initiatives and directed large-scale solicitation efforts involving hundreds of volunteers. With these organizations, Mark has:

  • Developed and implemented leadership, major and public gift campaigns

  • Identified and cultivated leadership and major gift prospects

  • Written and obtained record grants from major corporations

  • Developed campaign case brochures and materials

  • Organized and managed activities of campaign development committees

  • Managed special fundraising events

  • Recruited and trained executive campaign staff

 

He has served as interim fundraising executive for a variety of organizations including: The Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Hale House Center, and St. Aloysius School.  Mark’s experience includes fundraising for international organizations which include IGLHRC (International Gay and Lesbian Human Rights Commission) and the international cataract blindness organization HelpMeSee,Inc.

 

Prior to his work as Independent Counsel, Mark gained valuable experience serving as Assistant Vice President for Development of Continuum Health Partners, Inc. (New York City’s largest hospital network). He was responsible for all fundraising activities for the Long Island College Hospital.

 

Previously, Mr. McGrath was Director of Development for United Hospital Fund, the nation’s oldest charity and health services research organization, where he oversaw annual fundraising operations and conducted the Fund’s first ever feasibility study which lead to the implementation of a successful 25 million dollar capital campaign.

 

He served as Director of Development for White Plains Hospital in Westchester, NY.  His responsibilities included, in addition to the annual campaign, management of the hospital’s $12.5 million capital development campaign.

 

Mr. McGrath began his career at the United Way of New York City, where he spent 8 years in various positions finishing as Senior Group Manager and Director of Fundraising.

 

He resides in Manhattan and Woodland Valley, NY, serves as a volunteer for the Catskill Heritage Alliance, and is a board member for SAVE, a local animal shelter and advocacy organization.
